Platform Setup

Step-by-step installation guides for each supported player platform.

Windows (Electron Player)

  1. Go to Dashboard → Download and download the Windows installer (.exe)
  2. Run the installer — it requires no admin privileges and installs to the user directory
  3. Launch the StreamSign Player application
  4. A device key will appear on screen
  5. Register the player in Dashboard → Players → Add Player using the device key
  6. The player will activate and begin displaying content

Kiosk Mode

For dedicated signage displays, enable kiosk mode to prevent users from exiting the application. The player runs fullscreen, disables keyboard shortcuts, and auto-starts on boot. Configure kiosk mode from the player settings or remotely from the dashboard.

macOS (JUCE Player)

  1. Go to Dashboard → Download and download the macOS installer (.dmg)
  2. Open the DMG and drag StreamSign Player to the Applications folder
  3. Launch the application from Applications
  4. If prompted, allow the app in System Preferences → Security & Privacy
  5. The device key will appear — register it in the dashboard

Note: The JUCE player uses native macOS rendering and consumes ~50% less memory than the Electron version. It's optimized for Apple silicon (M1/M2/M3/M4).

Samsung TV (Tizen Player)

  1. On your Samsung TV, open the Smart Hub or Apps
  2. Search for "StreamSign"
  3. Install the application
  4. Launch StreamSign — the device key appears on the TV screen
  5. Register the player from the dashboard using the device key

Samsung Commercial Displays

For Samsung commercial displays (SMART Signage Platform), the player supports auto-start, scheduled power on/off, and integration with Samsung MagicINFO for device management.

Web Browser Player

  1. Open a web browser on your display device
  2. Navigate to your player URL (available from Dashboard → Players → Web Player)
  3. The device key appears in the browser
  4. Register it in the dashboard
  5. Optionally, set the browser to fullscreen mode (F11) for a clean display

The web player works on any modern browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. It's ideal for quick testing, Android TV, Fire TV, or any device where a native app isn't available.

Troubleshooting

Device key not appearing

Ensure the device has internet connectivity. The player needs to reach the StreamSign API to generate a key.

Player shows offline

Check network connectivity. Players send heartbeats every 60 seconds — if 3 consecutive heartbeats are missed, the player is marked offline.

Content not updating

Try clearing the cache from Dashboard → Players → [Player] → Clear Cache. The player will re-download all content.

Video playback issues

Ensure your video is encoded in H.264 (MP4). Some devices don't support H.265 or VP9 codecs.
